On December 27, the first high-altitude UHV AC transmission project in China and the first UHV AC transmission project in southwest China—State Grid's Sichuan-Chongqing 1,000kV UHV Project—was put into operation.
With the launch of this project, the voltage level of the main power grid in southwest China has been elevated from 500kV to 1,000kV, meeting the diverse development and outgoing transmission needs of clean energy in such areas as western Sichuan. Annually, the project delivers up to 35TWh of clean electricity from northwest China to load centers in Sichuan and Chongqing, equivalent to the volume consumed by nearly 10 million households annually, ensuring better accomodation and greater distribution of clean energy.
